Prosumers end the year by looking to heal the world

Here is a picture of the Prosumer leadership who were joined by other Prosumers. We also were joined by the President of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), Alberto Trimboli and his wife Silvia. Prosumers attended the WFMH International Trauma Summit in Houston at the end of November. The Summit had 12 countries represented as we worked to develop a Call to Action for governments and non-governmental agencies in the area of trauma. While the report is still being written, some interesting things did arise. Two of the Prosumers found that their area of concern now expanded beyond Texas Borders. They now know people in Uganda, India and South Africa. This shows an area where Prosumers needs to expand their thinking to reach beyond our little corner of the world.

There was a lot of great discussion around all types of trauma, natural and man made. There were a lot of survivors of trauma who wanted to be heard. By expressing what they had been through, we can now look how to stop some of that from happening. An interesting development were the number of people who had been traumatized or re-traumatized by professionals. There were some over generalization about professionals, and some took exception to this. While it is hard to hear of people being hurt; we must validate peoples experiences. It is up to every professional to find ways of stopping this from happening within their profession.

Now is the time for everyone to look to see what we can do to eliminate trauma wherever possible. It is all of our calling as citizens of this world, to stop trauma where we can, to help heal those who have suffered a trauma and to prevent trauma from happening at all. Standing together with the other citizens of the world, we can and will start affecting the trauma in our world.
