Core Training is the required first step for anyone in Texas seeking certification as a Peer Specialist. This 3-day course builds the foundation of peer support through recovery principles, communication skills, values, and ethics.

MHPS Certificate Training
Virtual Course
After completing Core, the 5-day MHPS Training prepares you to use your lived experience to support others facing mental health challenges. This training is required to become a Certified Mental Health Peer Specialist in Texas.

Peer Supervisor Training PSS
Virtual Course
The 2-day PSS Training is required in Texas for anyone supervising Certified Peer Specialists. It equips supervisors to mentor and guide peers while upholding recovery values, ethics, and professional standards.

Initial Certification Requirement for Peer Specialists
All newly certified Peer Specialists are required to complete 250 hours of face-to-face peer support services as part of their certification process. These hours must be completed under the supervision of a qualified Peer Specialist Supervisor (PSS) to ensure quality support and adherence to best practices.
